This is a collaborative class blog for Introduction to Digital Cultures taught at Lawrence University. A brief description of the course is as follows:
No doubt our media consumption has changed dramatically within last couple of decades as a result of emerging technologies. No longer do we rely on main stream media to deliver us news, entertainment, and information. Rather, we download this content onto our smart phones, iPods, Kindles, and laptops to watch in our leisure time. We even remix content to create new content and share this with our friends using online sites like YouTube.
This course interrogates the nature of digital media and examines the ways in which new information technologies are affecting everyday life, culture, institutions, and identities. As such, its goal will be to map the current Internet cultures and introduce students to various online technologies and platforms.
